Congratulations to Fallon Quigley ('14)

Fallon Quigley ('14) finished 3rd in the high jump at the Shore Conference Championships held on May 18. Fallon has medaled in Shore Conference Championship meets as a freshman, sophmore, and junior student. She is looking forward to competing at the NJSIAA Championships on May 25. Congratulations to Fallon on this outstanding achievement!

Mater Dei Girls Track Team Medal at NJCTC

Congratulations to the girls track team winning several medals at the NJCTC held on May 19. Emma McCarthy ('16) received medals for the 400 m hurdles and 100m hurdles; Theresa Osborne ('15) received medals for javelin, shotput,discus; Katie Viscardi ('15) received medals in long jump; high jump; Kristin McGaughey ('15) medaled in 400m; Patricia Dunkak ('16) medaled in discus. Congratulations girls on these great wins!

Mater Dei Prep Students Host “Heavenly Hope Fun Day” for Students from St Georgene School and Harbor School

“Fun Day” is an event unique to Mater Dei Prep and both visiting schools. It is completely organized and executed by MDP students for its guest students.

The 3rd year of “Fun Day” proved to be a huge success for all students with activities such as a bounce-house, tattoos, painting, and especially the dance floor.

Thanks to Taralynn Vecchio (’13) and her team for making this day a reality!

MATER DEI RECEIVES 11 BASIE NOMINATIONS

Congratulations to Cindy Dwyer and the amazing cast and crew of ALL SHOOK UP on their 10 Basie nominations including Outstanding Musical Production. Nominations also included Outstanding Set Design, Outstanding Lighting Design, Outstanding Costume Design, Outstanding Choregraphy, Outstanding Musical Direction, Outstanding Chorus and Outstanding Direction. Senior Ryan Molicki was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor and senior Christian Cieri was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor. The Basie Awards Ceremony will be held on May 22nd. Ryan Molicki was also nominated for Supporting Actor for the drama, Radium Girls. Congratulations and Good Luck.

MATER DEI PREP BOYS COMPETE IN DCH CUP PING PONG TOURNAMENT

Congratualtions to Taylor Hardy '14, Bobby Howley '14 and Jerry Trotta '14 for their first place win and Luke Durante '16 and Justin Hintz '16 for their second place finish in the DCH CUP -8th Garden State Open High School Team. 1st Place USATT Sanctioned 4 Star Ping Pong Tournament on May 4th.

Congratulations to Joey Maher for winning best supporting actor in a drama at the Montclair State University Theatre Awards. Joey received his award for his role in the Seraph Players fall production of Radium Girls. Great job, Joey!

The Montclair State University Theatre Night Awards has nominated the Seraph Players fall dramatic production, Radium Girls, for Best Dramatic Production. Meghan Lenahan ('13) nominated for best lead actress in a drama; Mike Lynch ('13) nominated for best lead actor in a drama; Joe Maher nominated for best supporting actor in a drama. Congratulations to these students, the entire cast of Radium Girls and director, Cindy Dwyer!

Catherine Cahill ('13) and Meghan Lenahan ('13) Receive Acting Awards

The Seraph Players recently attend the Bucks County Teen Arts Festival. Catherine Cahill ('13) was awarded the ShopRite Spotlight Award for Outstanding Lead Performance in Freckleface Strawberry the Musical. Meghan Lenahan ('13) was awarded the ShopRite Most Versatile Award for Lead Performances in All Shook Up and Freckleface Strawberry the Musical. Congratulations to Catherine and Meghan for this outstanding achievement!

Members of the Mater Dei Prep Table Tennis Club Welcome Olympian Lily Yip

Members of the Mater Dei Prep Table Tennis Club got the thrill of a lifetime yesterday when two-time Olympian Lily Yip stopped by the school for a demonstration. Ms. Yip and her husband, Barry Dattel, a US Senior Men’s Champion, served-and-volleyed with the students for about an hour during the school day. While a lot of laughter filled the halls during play, the MDP students take their table tennis seriously and were happy to learn from these champions. In anticipation of their visit, Ms. Yip and Mr. Dattel generously donated a Double Fish Olympic regulation table tennis table to Mater Dei Prep. The school already owned two tables, but Ms. Yip’s substantial donation will allow for more practice time for the club members.

Michael Grimaldi '14 Qualifies for Junior Olympic Nationals

Congratulations to Michael Grimaldi '14 who competed at the Region 7 Gymnastics Championships where he qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals being held the first week of May in Portland, OR. Michael is also Region 7's 1st place Parallel Bar Champion. Congratulations and Good Luck Mike!!

Caitlin Boyle ('13) Named as a Finalist for Most Reverend David M. O'Connell Service Scholarship

Congratulations to Caitlin Boyle ('13) on being named a finalist for the Bishop O'Connell Scholarship at Catholic University.

The scholarship honors Bishop O'Connell, C.M., who was appointed coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Trenton by Pope Benedict XVI in June 2010. Bishop O'Connell served as the 14th president of Catholic University for 12 years before stepping down. During his tenure, Bishop O'Connell emphasized commitment to service, a reflection of his episcopal motto - Ministrare non ministrari - meaning "to serve and not to be served," from the Gospel of St. Mark.

Caroline Cronin ('13) Earns Gold Award

Congratulations to Caroline Cronin ('13) for earning this prestigious award.
"The Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA. Only 5.4% of eligible Girl Scouts successfully earn the Gold Award.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts may earn. Earning the Gold Award requires planning and implementing a challenging, large-scale project that is innovative, engages others, and has a lasting impact on its targeted community with an emphasis on sustainability".

Junior Michael Grimaldi competed at the New Jersey USAG State Gymnastic Championship on Saturday, March 16th, and took 2nd place all around. CONGRATULATIONS MIKE!

Jordan Lacey ('15) and Jamie Luminoso ('15) to Attend NJ Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar at Monmouth University

Jordan Lacey and Jamie Luminoso have been selected to attend the NJ HOBY Seminar at Monmouth University in June 2013.

"HOBY's purpose is to teach how to think, not what to think. Our leadership seminar provides an opportunity for New Jersey's high school sophomores to recognize their potential talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders of the future. The high level of energy, encouragement and motivation as well as the interaction with peers, panelists and volunteer staff are important elements in nurturing the students' future leadership roles."

Ryan Branagan '13 and Sam Miles '14 named to Boys Basketball All-Division Team

The Shore Basketball Coaches Association has selected senior Ryan Branagan and junior Sam Miles to the All Division Second Team. Ryan was selected to play in the Senior All-Star game which will be played at Wall Township High School on March 20th at 7:45pm. CONGRATULATIONS RYAN AND SAM!

Lindsey Florio '15 named to Girls Basketball All-Division Team

The Shore Basketball Coaches Association has named sophomore Lindsey Florio to the Claa B Central All-Divison Team. Congratulations Lindsey!

Paul Juelis '12 earns NJAC First-Team Honors

Ramapo Freshman Paul Juelis '12 won the NJAC championship in the mile in a personal best 4:18. He owns the school record in the 1,000. (2:32.06) CONGRATULATIONS PAUL!!!

Nicole's film "Trigger Warning" will be shown at Middletown Public Library on Wednesday, March 6, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Senior Megan Baird finished the Winter Bowling Season with the highest average, second highest series and highest scratch game in our division. By holding the top average in our division, Meg qualifies as an individual for the Shore Conference Tournament that will take place on Thursday, February 7th. Congratulations Megan!

PAUL JUELIS '12 NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 1/27/13

Juelis becomes the second different Roadrunner to earn NJAC Men's Indoor Rookie of the Week honors after traveling to New York City to complete at the Metropolitan Championships contested at the New York Armory. He placed seventh in a field of 11 competitors in the 1,000 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of 2:32:06. The performance by Juelis represented a new Ramapo school record in the 1,000 meter event. CONGRATULATIONS PAUL!

GIRLS SOCCER TEAM PLAYERS MAKE ALL-DIVISON TEAM

Victoria Lonnay ('09) Presenting at the 245th American Chemical Society’s National Meeting

Victoria Lonnay (’09) will be presenting at the 245th American Chemical Society’s National Meeting & Exposition at Seton Hall University and the 17th Annual Petersheim Academic Exposition.

Victoria’s work in the field inorganic chemistry has garnered the Clare Booth Luce Mid-Career Scholarship.

Victoria works with the Chemistry and Biochemistry department at Seton Hall University, and her team continues to make advances in both fields.

The Mighty Seraph Cheerleaders WIN 2012 Gator Bowl National Championship in Jacksonville Florida

Congratulations to the Mater Dei Prep Seraph Competition Cheer Squad on their hard earned victory and National Championship. The ladies competed on the national stage this week in Jacksonville, Fla at the Gator Bowl.

Be sure to check out the team as they perform live game day and at halftime as Northwestern and Mississippi State battle in the Gator Bowl January 1st, 12pm on ESPN.

Mater Dei Prep Women's Soccer qualified for the Shore Conference Tournament. The Shore Conference Tournament is for top teams across Ocean/Monmouth Counties. The Lady Seraph’s will compete Wednesday at 3PM at Middletown South.

PAUL JUELIS '12 NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK BY NJAC

Ramapo College freshman, Paul Juelis '12 earns NJAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week honors after traveling to the Bronx, NY to compete at the Fordham Fiasco. He placed 19th overall in a field of 119 competitors on the five mile course with a time of 28:34. The performance by Juelis helped the Roadrunners claim a second place finish in the 13-team meet. Congratulations Paul!
